First visit
Your first visit
About an hour, with one of our physical therapists. Bring someone along if you would like.
You do not need to prepare anything else. If you can, bring the things on the list below, and tell the front desk if you need a chair, extra time or help at the door.

Step by step
How the hour goes
- 01
Step 1: Before you come
The front desk checks your Medicare and any other plan, and calls you with what they find.
- 02
Step 2: When you arrive
Someone meets you at the door. There is a seat for whoever comes with you.
- 03
Step 3: The conversation
Your therapist asks what happened, what worries you and what you want to be doing again.
- 04
Step 4: The movement check
You stand, rise, walk and turn at your own speed, with a therapist right beside you.
- 05
Step 5: The plan
We explain what we found in plain words and agree on what to practice and how often to come.
- 06
Step 6: Before you leave
You take home a page of exercises in large print, and we set your next visit.
Wear and bring
What to wear and what to bring
Comfortable clothes
Something you can move in. Pants or shorts, and a top with sleeves that push up.
Flat shoes that close
Sneakers or shoes with a back and a flat sole, the pair you walk in most.
Your cards
Medicare, and any other plan or supplement card, and a photo ID.
Your walker or cane
The one you use every day, so we can see how you use it.
Glasses and hearing aids
Whatever you use during the day, so you can see and hear us well.
A list of your medicines
Your doctor's notes, if you have them. We keep your records private and share them only as the law allows.
Not on day one
What we do not decide on the first day
We will not rush you into anything.
How long you will come
We tell you what we expect, and we change it as we learn more.
What your plan will pay
The front desk already checked, but your plan has the final say.
Anything you are unsure about
You can say no to an exercise, ask for a rest or stop at any point.
About the first visit
How long is the first visit?
About an hour. Later visits are shorter.
Will anyone touch me?
Your therapist may guide your arm, hold your belt or steady you as you move. They tell you before they do, and you can say no.
Can I bring someone?
Yes. They can sit beside you or watch from a chair. Many people bring a daughter, a son or a spouse.
Do I need to fill out forms?
You can complete your forms on our patient portal before you come, or at the front desk. Our contact form never asks for health details.
Ready to book?
Book online, or call the front desk and ask for a first visit.
